I am thrilled that you have continued this, I live vicariously through you. I think the only way I could start someting different was if as you I lost my position, I am just to comfortable where I am. I hope that some day I can follow your lead, thanks and continued good luck with your company.

Hi Chris, liked the podcast, pretty cool to do a non-German podcast. I am doing my podcast (In Russian) for a couple of years from Tuebingen and from S.F. where I go on business every year. Feel free to link me to your LinkedIn profile, my email is above. I guess we have some 3rd degree connection (over Leo Laporte?) but I am not sure. I try to join DAI-Stammtisch at Saint and Scholars every first Wed of a month, maybe we meet over a beer another day. Keep up podcasting and good luck. Alex

Hallo Chris!

I am a long term listener from Tips From The Top Floor and a new listener of Up to the Top Floor.

I am really enjoying this trip along with you. I am also in the process of setting up my own small high quallity business here in Denmark. In my case, I'll offer graphic and web design. I used to work in Frankfurt am Main for clients like Infineon Technologies, Kärcher, Gardena. Now, in Denmark I have to start over again, from scratch.

I've been leaning a lot with your tips and your listeners considerations. We talk again in the Forum.

Ah, I am considering to joy Tips from the Top Floor, The Workshop, in Tübingen.

Hey Chris,

I'm a long time listener and fan of TFTTF, so I was intrigued to hear you mention Up to the Top Floor, and your reason's for starting. I admire your courage, and am rooting for you to have success in your new business venture.

Regarding episode #03; I downloaded Freemind and have really enjoyed using it over the past couple of days, however couldn't help but notice that you're graph looks a little different than the ones it produces. I'm curious, did you go with a commercial product instead? if so, which one? Any other details you can offer regarding this would be appreciated.

Thanks, and keep up the great work!

Just thought I'd mention that in Las Vegas these sorts of artists can be heard by the respectable names of "Graffers", "Graf Artists" or "Tag Artists" amonst a few others.

I think it's interesting to hear what different names exist for the same thing based on region.

tx nSonic! yep, recorded with Microtrack, with the included stereo mic - great for sound-seeings and pretty good when it comes to handling noises.

the original logo has been designed by andres (www.anhdres.com), a friend from argentina, make sure you shoot him a quick note that you like the logo

Great pictures! Looks like a lot of fun :)

About the "training" and "canibalism" - no problem as you said! Even if you know how to record you still need the equipment and of course the experience. As you said: good for demo-recordings but if a band like to have a reall good demo or master it will always go for some pro i think. (you cannot play and record at the same time without loosing something... quality or time)

haha - cool episode :D
"well.... nothing to say... oh... the coffee...." and then the sprayers... "machst Du das alles selber? Webdesign etc...." - "ja" - "WAS?" :D *LOOOL*

Really cool episode - recorded with microtrack? How do you avoid the noise from touching the device or mic? - or isn't that the m-audio stereo-mic that comes with the device?

Oh - and really cool logo that is! Unbelievable what you can do with such a simple Logo - a REALLY great logo.

Hi Chris -

Thanks for the tip-off to FreeMind! It's a great bit of software...one question though...how did you get your mind map to look like that? I can't seem to get past the basic oval for the starting node and the tiny lines for the branches...

Good luck with your new business! I'm trying to start something similar here in Pennsylvania, though I'm a composer/photographer/designer without much recording experience.

Cheers,
Phil

Thanks for the tip-off to FreeMind! It’s a great bit of software…one question though…how did you get your mind map to look like that? I can’t seem to get past the basic oval for the starting node and the tiny lines for the branches…

Good luck with your new business! I’m trying to start something similar here in Pennsylvania, though I’m a composer/photographer/designer without much recording experience.

Cheers,

Hi Chris,

best wishes for your endeavour. I've been following tfttf for a while now and got quite a few valuable tips from you. It's fun to hear you talk your (and my) native language on this latest podcast. Funny how different that sounds.

I love the show, hate the logo. It would be more aesthetically pleasing without the writing, which is difficult to read. Your podcasts are great, I love both shows.

Hi Chris

I've been a freemind fan for years on a number of OS's (Windows, Linux and Solaris).

I use it for working out all sorts of things like (not limited to)
- Photographic themes/ideas
- Creating solutions to problems or design issues (I'm an IT Manager - always have lots of solutions to create or problems to solve)
- Organising my thoughts (I find it's great for taking a whole lot of ideas that sort of relate to each other but can't figure out how exactly. I find that in the process of adding them to Freemind the relationships appear as if by magic - magic!)
- and anything that benefits from brainstorming

Good luck Chris and as you say 'Happy (trouble) shooting'

Cheers

I'm looking at the podcast in iTunes...I realized that top floor productions took you only 2 months to build. That's almost scary! Great job Chris! You're probably one of the most hard working people I know!

Hey nice flyers,
and the references! "Eure Mütter!" right on. There is a long time fan here, did you really design the covers and everything? Got the "Runterschalten, Fresse halten" Poster in my room, the DVD, CD and all the stuff. Only thing I'm missing is the new football/soccer single...
Keep it up, all the best for your business, I'm gonna listen to the podcasts now.

They're working on their web site, I'll mention it on the podcast (and maybe play another song by them) once it's finished.

sorry to the other readers - but i write this in german :)

Hallo Chris,

- What goes around comes around
- You get what you give
- You are treated as you treat others.
- One good turn deserves another
- You always get what you deserve.
- A taste of your own medicine
- As ye sow, so shall ye reap
:D

Chris...
Actually, "what goes around comes around" is more often used when someone does sth dishonest or otherwise bad, that they will pay for it. Mmmmm. When you do something good, the only one I can think of is "no good deed goes unpunished"! meaning that when you do some good deed, it often comes back to bite you in the butt (people take advantage of you). All that notwithstanding, it's a great thing to do favours when you can manage to do so, as it's good for you and makes you a more gracious and thoughtful person. Builds character. Great that you got a more direct benefit from it as well!

in german:

Ansonsten fällt Dir schon was ein ;)
Vielleicht einen Adelstitel kaufen? z.B. "Graf". Dann wärst Du der "Foto-Graf" :D ... hehehe

Viel Erfolg

I think there might be a middle point referring to the IHK thing. Most people out there, our potential clients lets say, are looking for some certainty and sometimes a vast experience is not enough for them. There is a lot of people obsessed with this certification thing and, from a point of view, it’s all right, but there’s no need to marginalize those who, regardless not being numbered and classified, are more than very good in their jobs.

If you are not content with that excellent chef, photographer or designer because he or she got not certification at all, well it is fine, go ahead and find another one with the sticky tag you are looking for.

In short, it would be great to have options… and make some mistakes.

PD. Pardon me for every possible misspelling or incoherence I could make, english is not my native language and I still got not the permission from the IHK to made use of it… shhh! don’t tell anybody.
